Reflection of placement
I think overall we picked good places to put the word. The under ground at Wescoe and The snack area in the Art and Design building showed the definition of because they were both places where a lot of people were included. The picture of the word of the stairs at Wescoe was a good idea but I think it would have been more effective if they were on the set of stairs where everyone hangs out. The picture of include where it is in an elevator and when they letters are on the stairs at the Art and Design building I’m not really sure what it has to do with the definition of our word. I think they were just picked because people didn’t want to go to different places to get different shots of the word. I think the construction of the word did a pretty good job at defining the word especially how the I and the N had the positive space surround the negative space.
Parts of the project
The most difficult part was making the letters. Most of the letters stayed together pretty well. The letter that was probably the hardest was the N because it was frail and parts of it kept breaking of. We also didn’t make it thick enough so it was harder to make stand up. Also some of the other letters didn’t stay together that well with hot glue and we ended up duct taping them together to make the stay. The hardest part of making the letters was making them sturdy. The other part I found hard about the project was getting everything to fold right for the book so that all the pages would line up when they were closed. Cutting was also difficult to get the front of the book to look like I wanted.
Reflections of Reading
There are many different types of ways to take photos. You should always have a camera with you to be ready to capture a picture because sometimes opportunity’s show up when you lease expect it. The techniques that I find most useful are repetition, framing, close-ups, movement, and continuous mode. Repetition can attract attention to a certain point your trying to make and emphasize a certain point. Framing can also draw attention to a subject. Close-ups can draw attention to detail that would otherwise go unnoticed. Continuous mode can get capture a sense of movement and creating movements with your camera can come up with interesting photograph’s. The second writing didn’t really help when taking pictures because it talked more about history and the difference between documents and pictures.
Description of project
Are assignment was to construct a word with at least one three foot letter. We constructed the word to look like its meaning. After the construction of the word we looked around campus to find places that helped defined the word. After finding good locations we took pictures of the word there. After all are photos were collected we made a photo book showing our word and its locations as well as our construction on the word.
