Ten Principles for design & Don Norman Video

I think the ten principles for design was a good article because it was short, simple, easy to read, and straight to the point. The thing that I think was the main point in the article was to keep the design simple and practical. This idea can be used and especially helpful in any major.  I think I can apply this to my major when making a design to keep it simple, straight forward, and timeless, while making sure the design can do its functional purpose. I think that all three objects I choose were simple and designed to do their job without being to drab. They get their job done without taking away from anything around them.
I liked the Don Norman video a lot. One of the reasons I liked it so much was because he made a lot of good points while adding comedy to it. He also showed examples of good designs and designs that were good but weren’t function to the best of their ability to do what they were made for. I feel like the main purpose of his video was to show the difference between when something is fun and functional and when the idea of fun over powers the design. I think this applies to the objects I picked because they could be considered fun, cute, stylish, etc., and still complete their main task efficiently. This applies to my major because when you are designing you want to make sure the client can use whatever you create while making it look good so that they will enjoy the product and you will build a client base.
